daydreams
i wake to the sound of the tree limbs talking to the window the morning wind seems angry with the dawn of a new day if monday never comes then you don't have to go and i can brush the hair from your face remembering the spots across your nose
i sat through the still of last night with my legs wrapped around your thighs cradling you in my arms like a sleeping babe wrapped in my magic blanket
it's cold and rainy now, as i walk to the front porch leaving your warmth behind asleep in bed last night was wonderful, holding you the first night in my bed you laid me down like a child smoothing my hair out beside my head cooing me to the sound of the rain as your hands found my face
i've sat lonely by this door so many times half in and half out of the dreams i have of you i remember then all like yesterday but i keep them as my everyday
when we were sitting in the middle of a park downtown listening to the bums talking to themselves about cleaning windows. 'you two look good together in the park. you do...yah you sure do!'
with me leaning on you one of my legs over one of yours ants crawling in my shoes and all over your feet feeling the sun coming up through the cement and into our jeans
and as you danced counting the beats of my heart to the black marching band on their way to the homecoming game 4th year in a row
looking out at my tree i let the rain comfort me as it always does when your not here and i think back to the day you pointed me out to your friends saying, 'remember her, she's the one who has my heart'
