in between
we splashed knowing that all of our innocent secrets were giggling right there under the surface we felt brave above water, smiling like experts on a game few of us had played. but, below we rung out hands worried we would be found out that they all knew we had never been touched, or had touched that our moon light skin had never meet with the shades of another. black/white, gay/straight, we were all new to it. we feared the power of it feared the power that its secret possessed. sloshing around, we jumped from lap to lap apologizing for the touching that we knew were already unacceptable. how easy it was to be without boundaries before their bullshit filled our heads.
